Day 2 Part 1: Bangkok Trip (May 2014)

Started the day early today. Woke up at 6am and that's earlier than the time I have to wake up for work everyday! Reason cuz we are heading for the Pratunam Market which only operates from 6am to 9.30am. You can get clothes at wholesale prices which is way much cheaper than other shopping places in Bangkok. But one problem is that the minimum pieces you have to purchase is three, and some sellers actually don't allow you to mix designs. You just have to get 3 pieces of the same designs! So best if you are going with 3 or more friends that each one get one. It's easier this way.

Anyway we tried their roadside stalls - Thai Milk Tea and the Pork Chop Stick!

While the girl is preparing our drinks, we could smell the fresh aroma of the tea. Smells nice~ Yes, but the only one thing is that it is extremely sweet!! Gonna have a sugar rush! So we waited a while for the ice to melt to dilute it a bit. Haha. But it's still sweet!

Pork Chop Stick is also tasty! But I feel that it is nothing comparable to the one at Chatuchak:) The one at Chatuchak still stands in first place!

Finally lunch! This should actually be our breakfast. Haha! But wells~ Things doesn't always go according to plans. But at least we get to try it:)

Over here, you will find many Singaporeans trying this recommended Wanton Noodles. What we didn't know is that the portion is that small! So after having the Dry Wanton Noodle, we ordered another bowl of Wanton Noodle Soup.

Wanton Soup which we ordered to share

Dry Wanton Noodle

Wanton Noodle Soup

Our empty plates! Have to eat two plates and we are not even full yet -.- At least we still have the space to try the roadside Pancake after that.

And shopping spree continues... Stay on for more updates on our second day:)

Day 1 Part 3: Bangkok Trip (May 2014)

And the next part is at Terminal 21! The theme over there is real interesting! Each levels reflects totally different themes that are unique in its own way. And not forgetting toilets as well. Even the toilet have their own theme and the cleaners also wearing uniforms that matched the theme. We went to explore but the most interesting toilet theme is the Bakery Restroom! And so the photos presenting the Bakery Restroom:

Some other themes as well:

Ended the day back at the hotel where we freshen up before going for Thai massage. They actually close at 12am but lucky they still accept walk-ins at 11 plus. My first time trying Thai massage and it's not too bad:) Especially shiok after a long day of walking! Sore shoulders and legs!

And that marks the end of Day 1!! :)

Day 1 Part 2: Bangkok Trip (May 2014)

Our first stop at Chatuchak Weekend Market! As you can see from the name, yes, they are only open on weekends and their operating hours are from 8am to 6pm! The place is so huge that you might not be able to cover all areas all in just one day! It's a really hot sunny day. Even hotter than Singapore!! Came across this stall selling "Grass Jelly Herb" and it also came with peanut sprinkles on top. Something that you won't usually find in Singapore and a refreshing great eat in the hot sun.

And also not forgetting to try their Pork Chop Bun! We finally found it after a long walk in the hot sun (it's all the way on the other side). I would say that this is definitely a MUST TRY! And really worth it! All it takes is just one little bite and I am hooked~ Real tasty and the cooking time is just right that it is juicy and not too dry. Regretted not getting more! Cuz was afraid that we might not have the stomach space for other food worth trying. But I concluded that I am sure able to make space for this anytime:P

Thereafter we continued our next search - Coconut Ice Cream! This particular stall is the recommended one, and is located near to the area of the Pork Chop Bun. You just have to continue the way to the most extreme end. They served the ice cream in the coconut shell and you get to choose two toppings with it. And they also let you have the coconut water as well~ You can just taste the freshness of the coconut! A great dessert in the hot sun and especially when I am a fan of ice cream:)

That's about all the updates for Chatuchak. Most of the events were on shopping as you all will know. Hahaha.

So stay tune for more updates on our first day at Bangkok!!

Day 1 Part 1: Bangkok Trip (May 2014)

Finally we get to go ahead with our plans to travel to Bangkok:) Didn't managed to go there in Jan this year due to the protests situation there and the airline offered us the option of postponing our trip for 6 months. And we finally chose to go in May. But it seems like the situation over there is rather unpredictable. Initially we were all afraid that the situation over there might become worse that we won't be able to go there as planned. But lucky for us, we went ahead:)

It's quite amusing how we are unsure of the timing of our flight until we saw the itinerary that one friend had done up, stating that we have to reach airport at 5.15am in the morning! We still have the perception that our flight is in the noon (same as what we initially planned in Jan). Haha! But instead, the timing for departure is at 7.15am!!

And so we reached Bangkok at 8.45am (their timing). The timing over there is actually 1hr earlier than Singapore:) Thereafter we went to our hotel, CentrePoint Pratunam, to deposit our luggage with the concierge team as the timing for checking-in is still not up..

Got their train card and we are ready to go!! Weeeeeeeee

And so.. I have decided to split day 1 of Bangkok to a couple of posts instead as it might be too long. Anyway as everyone is well aware that Bangkok is known to be a shopping paradise, most of the activities there will be relating to that. So I will skip those parts and just blogged about some other things that happened while we are there:)

So stay tune! ~

Dessert Treats to end the last Friday of April 2014 @ Cake Spade

I guess many of you had heard that Cake Spade had turned 1 and to mark their anniversary, they are giving $1 off on all cakes, brownies, crumbles, cupcakes and tarts on 25-26 April 2014! So did you managed to get some desserts over there during their anniversary?

We had it on 25 Apr (Friday)! As all of us had a real tough week, to cheer us up and to celebrate the end of the week, we went there for some desserts! We tried their Molten Cake with Ice Cream, Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake, and Dark Chocolate Banana Cake.

Molten Cake with Ice Cream
Reviews have stated that the chocolate will ooz out. But too bad, I ordered it with the Ice Cream on top so can't really see the chocolate oozing out. But the molten cake is definitely warm when we eat it. The feeling of pure satisfaction!

Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake
Melded with a layer of digestive cookie crust, and adorned with strawberries encased in a layer of jelly. One of  their specialty cake and is definitely a MUST TRY! It is quite refreshing and even my friend who don't really like cheesecake is also a fan of this cake!

You might also like to try another of their specialty cake - Peach Tofu Cheesecake, when you are there as well.

Red Velvet Cake
Moist layers of vanilla and a hint of chocolate sponge covered with luscious cream cheese icing. For me, I am actually not a fan of Red Velvet Cake due to the taste of the cheese icing that surrounds the cake. Some does not taste well due to the cheese icing. But this, I am actually liking it. The taste of the cheese is rather light and not that heavy. I would have to say that I don't really try Red Velvet Cake, but this is the first Red Velvet Cake that I am actually liking it:)

Dark Chocolate Banana Cake
Dark and moist chocolate cake layered with fresh banana slices on a bed of dark chocolate mousse, surrounded with cameralized banana chips. The taste of the banana is very fresh and goes pretty well with the chocolate. But then I feel that the chocolate is too rich, and I can't finish the entire slice all by myself.
