Day Trip to JB (28 Oct 2018)

Went for day trip to JB on a Sunday. We did not managed to get the train tickets since it was snatched up within minutes! We actually postponed the trip once already as we also had not managed to get the train tickets. So in the end, we chose to go ahead with the plan - heading in to JB via bus instead.

First thing when I got there, was to get the data sim card. My previous one had already expired due to me not topping up and extending the validity. So yeah. This time round must remember to do so. But it seems that they had shortened the validity period - it will expire 50 days from your last top up. Zzzz.

Restoran Hua Mui
Address: No. 131, Jalan Trus, 80000, Johor Bahru

So our first stop was to Restoran Hua Mui. They are famous for their Hainanese Chicken Chop! It's just walking distance from City Square. By the time we reached the place, the place was full, and there was a queue outside (around 4 - 5 before us).

Our food listed as follows (clockwise from top left):
- Hot Milo (RM 2.90)
- Hua Mui Breakfast (RM 8.90)
Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM 15.90)
- Butter & Kaya Toast (RM 2.00)

Bev-C
Address: 54 Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, 8000

Thereafter was time for some dessert. 2 minutes walk away from Hua Mui.

This was actually a clothing shop, and the cafe is at the second level.

We ordered their signature Chocolate Mint Pie (RM 16) and a cuppa Ice Cube Espresso + Milk (RM 16)
They actually have the coffee ice cubes and you can add the amount of milk to it accordingly to your preference.
There was also other options such as espresso+chocolate+milk, and also espresso+caramel+milk.

Thereafter we head over to Paradigm Mall for some shopping. Our initial plan was to visit the newly opened shopping mall, but we heard some reviews that it's not ready? So we stick to Paradigm Mall instead.

And I got to try the Jay Chou - Liang Sandwich Bar.
Tried their recommended Chicken Bolognese. Aiyo Bu Cuo Wor~

Dong Seoul Restaurant
Address: 109, Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/2, Taman Sutera Utama, 81300 Skudai

Dinner was thereafter settled at Dong Seoul.

First time having korean food in such traditional style.

Fried Pork in Spicy (RM 35)

Fried New Year Cake (RM 25)

We also ordered the Spicy Korean Noodles (RM 12).

Look at our table full of food! The amount of side dishes they give is just really a wide spread! Yum Yum.

But it's really too much for 2 person. We are so full that we nearly puke.

And then, we had to head back to Singapore since it was getting late. We returned via the Tuas checkpoint since Woodlands will jam even badly as it's a sunday.
Malaysia customs was pretty smooth. The jam was in Singapore customs and also the  especially long waiting time for the buses to Jurong East MRT station! I think we queued for nearly one hour?

Other than that, we had fun! :)

Cafe Hopping to Fresh Fruits Lab - Z Edition

A few weeks ago, we visited the newly opened cafe - Fresh Fruits Lab - Z edition!
Have heard of this cafe before, but did not have a chance to visit it since it's located at Kembangan!

So when my friend told me that they opened another outlet at Clementi, we decided to go together. So here we go, dropping by the cafe on a Wednesday night after work. A really great chill-out place to catch up with friends or have a drink to unwind from work.

Carbonara - $8
cream based pasta with sauteed bacon and button mushrooms

Lychee Favoured Fruits Infused Soda - $6
specially crafted sodas, bursting with flavour and topped with real fruits

Truffle Fries - $10
shoe-string fries drizzled with truffle oil, served with truffle mayo dipping sauce

FFL Baked Rice - $9
bacon, chicken ham, and mushroom with buttermilk and shredded mozzarella cheese

Blue Hometree - House Cocktail - $15
gin with blue curacao, rose syrup, sprite, soda and a small amount of milk

So I initially expected just a glass of cocktail. But end up, they also serve the natural food colouring. Apparently I can add those droplets of colours into the cocktail, and flash it with lights. Good instagramable drink!

After mixing it all up!

Overall, the food was pretty not bad! The truffle fries toooooo! <3
The price was also pretty decent.
Will definitely be going back soon again, and probably to try their lunch menu items/ brunch items! They do offer all day breakfast menu on weekends and public holidays.

Shall find another day to try those :)

Fresh Fruits Lab - Z Edition

Memory Lane

Hihi! Really been a while, isn't it?

I kinda miss the feeling of typing and penning down my thoughts and happenings in this space. I kind of had a quick read through my previous posts and it really feels like walking down memory lane.

And now, looking at how few posts (close to nothing) about recent happenings, made me feel like I should start to pen down something that I can refer to in future. I hope to fill this little space with many many posts that I can look back at in future! So stay tune! haha

So anyways, I was kinda triggered by memories because of the S.H.E seventeen anniversary new music video release - 十七.
You may refer to the music video below!

The MV starts off with them boarding the train - beginning their journey of S.H.E together for the past 17 years. Fate brought them together and they began their music career journey together - the hard work they put in together and eventually gained the popularity.
And mid-way, they also went on to pursue their own interests (acting/ variety/ music).

The 17 years had been a train ride of various ups and downs for them. But ultimately, they are still together as one, and will be there for one another no matter what happens :)

This MV really bring back the memories of how they started off, and how they became part of our lives as we listen to their songs as we are growing up <3

Can't wait to see their live broadcast later today (11 Sept) at 7.30pm!

Cruise Trip (Feb 2018)

How's the new year coming along?
Well for myself it's pretty much busy at work. It's back to the crazy and hectic year ahead again. Only in December that I managed to get a mini breather and finally clear some backlogs. Now it seems it's starting to pile up again :(

Work is never-ending they say. We also need to take a break sometimes. Here's to my very much awaited Royal Carribbean cruise trip to get away from work and just chill and enjoy the sea breeze <3

My last cruise trip aka Star Cruise was when I was young, I think....

Day 1

The ship will depart Singapore at 4.30pm but boarding time is in the morning at 11.30am.
The view while having the buffet lunch after checking-in.

Our room. No window to enjoy the sea view though.
But wells, there's always the top deck of the cruise ship.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

And next was dinner time. Fine dining style.

Starters dish: Bay Scallop Gratin
with melted garlic-herb butter, olive breadstick
Initially, when we asked which starter dish they would recommend, the waiter suggested the above starter dish. I did not choose the above. Instead, I chose a fruit dish as I felt that I might not like the dish with the scallops. That was before I saw other tables having that dish. Then regret a bit since it looks not bad.

But guess what, when the waiter served us our starters, he actually had an extra Bay Scallop Gratin just for me. He said that he had brought one for me also, since this dish is really good. And he's right! I love it a lot! :)
Entrees dish: Slow Roasted Prime Rib
garden vegetables, mash potatoes, onion gravy
Next up, the Entrees dish.
Since this is fine dining and I do not usually have beef steak outside, might as well give the Prime Rib a try. Also another recommended dish by our waiter.

And of course, not forgetting desserts!
Like they say, there's always space for desserts, isn't it? HAHA
Overall, not bad the food! Yummy Yum Yum!

Thereafter, we went to explore other activities inside the cruise ship, such as the movie screenings and the ice-skating performance. The ice-skaters were so pro that they wow-ed the audience! We kinda end the night enjoying the sea breeze at the top deck (the wind was super strong and cold!) and having supper snacks.

Day 2

Starting off our morning with buffet style breakfast.
My breakfast platter
After breakfast, just randomly walking around and we happened to stumble upon the Raffle game that the luxury boutique is hosting. So since we are there, we got a ticket each to try our luck in the draw.

The encounter was pretty much quite hilarious. After the draw for the plush was over, and the speaker announced that the next draw prize is a bag and a scarf, I actually put away my phone into my bag and was preparing to take out my room card (since they will need to verify if we win). At the same time telling my friend that this prize will be mine so I need to prepare my room card. And just as I said finish, the speaker announces the winner - which is our room number! Cannot describe the shock/ happiness/ unexpected feeling we experience in that mere few seconds.

Unexpected luck and coincidence!

The prize
Lunch time~
I opt for Chicken instead of beef steak this time round.
Dessert
And today is the day we have the half day stopover at Penang. We arrived at 4.30pm and the ship will depart at midnight.

See how huge the cruise ship is, as compared to the other one :P
Cafe hopping to Cafe 55
We chose this cafe because the 3D art drinks looks interesting. But then it's only when we are there, that we know that they no longer offer that as they recently had a change of management.

Ice Mocha

Original Penang Layer Cake

Mango Cheese Cake
And thereafter we went to those shops that sell traditional Chinese biscuits (just in time for the new year), and also shopping and walking around.
Penang Laksa
Seafood Popiah
Dinner before heading back to the cruise

Look what we came back to. Specially by the crew.
Creative much?

Day 3

Day 3 morning and afternoon was pretty much spent chilling around, staying in the room watching drama, playing games and taking a nap.

Breakfast at Fine Dining Restaurant

And then it's lunch..

And finally it's time for the formal night dinner where everyone kinda wore a dress/ formal wear to have their dinner at the fine dining restaurant.

Steamed NZ Mussels
with light white wine cream sauce and shallots served with garlic bread

Same thing this time round. I do not eat mussels but then giving this a try since it's what our waiter recommends. And it's real good! The taste was not too bad due to the cream sauce.
Garlic Shrimp
with mash potato, seasonal vegetables, herb butter

Tiramisu
creamy mascarpone cheese, espresso-macerated lady fingers, hint of Kahlua liquor
Picture of all the waiters.
After which they actually sang the 月亮代表我的心, and also a few of them did the Gundam Style dance.

And here's another, which we found when we are back to our room
Room service for supper after enjoying the last night at top deck, enjoying the sea breeze.
We actually ordered 2 cookies. But look at how many they delivered over. HAHA
Overall I enjoyed the cruise trip. Just forgetting about everything for a while and just chill and relax - enjoying the sea breeze and view. We pretty much spent every night at the top deck enjoying the breeze. You can also look up at the night skies at the many little sparkling stars above <3 Nice view. Just too bad that the camera will not be able to snap that view down.

And furthermore, we do not have any data connection during most of the cruise trip! We only managed to have half a day of data when we stopped over at Penang (using our Malaysia sim card). That was pretty much the hardest part since we are already so used to having data connection anytime and anywhere. But we managed to survive it. Nice to just chill without any distractions/ worries :)
